My Students

My students are amazing! They surprise me each and every day and keep me learning more for them. We seriously have some of the best students in our small-town elementary school.

My students are always ready to try something new/ Because of that, I want to be a better teacher everyday.

I want to grow with them!

Our school is over sixty percent free or reduced price lunch recipients, but together our community, parents and staff work to get us everything we need. I am so grateful to have wonderful people like you also partnering with us to help get our students everything they so deserve.

My Project

For the past five years we have been blessed to have iPads in the classroom. During that time we have changed how we have utilized them and perfected the ways that are best for student learning.

iPads have changed how my students view learning.

They have also changed how I view teaching.

Learning is no longer fully directed by me. Learning can be student driven and is exciting. iPads have opened up that door. Next year through grant funding and budgeting our technology office is hoping to bring Chromebooks into our classrooms. While that is very exciting, change is hard. Apple and Google do not always play nice with each other and not everything we know our students can do on the iPad will be able to be done on the Chromebooks.

That is where this awesome project comes in. We would like to keep a set of iPads in every third grade classroom. These iPads would be used for stop motion, flipped lessons, ClassKick, green screen technology, robots, and most importantly Osmos! Right now there is not a Google compatibility.

Along with using Osmos in our regular education setting we also use Osmos and our iPads for calming breaks. These breaks are essential for the emotional and social needs of many of our students. My favorite part is that our students can use Osmos one on one and they can also use it in a small groups if needed. I believe we should teach them mindfulness, social skills, anger and anxiety coping skills in school. Skills they need to succeed.
