My school is a small city school located in Central New York. Approximately 51% of our students receive free or reduced lunches; however, we also service the children of college professors and doctors. This year's seniors are a diverse group, with many of them planning to go on to two-year or four-year colleges or universities.

The other twelfth grade English teachers and I have been working diligently to revamp the curriculum for our seniors. We want to make it more applicable to real life and want to be sure our students are prepared for college and other future paths they may take. Research has been our key focus and a prime component of our new curriculum. The students have spent many class periods researching in the library and have already created four research projects during the past few months. During the last marking period, the seniors will write a traditional research paper, and their culminating assessment will be a portfolio that contains all of the research projects they created during the school year.

We have created handouts to show the students how to document their sources in the MLA format and create bibliographies. The problem is that these handouts are mere photocopies and have been used and reused countless times. We need a material that will last the test of time and will be something students can take with them after graduation.

Your help will make it possible for our seniors to have easy access to research style and usage rules. It will also give them a chart to take with them after graduating.
