This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"Mission POSSIBLE" is our school wide theme. I teach my students that in our class everything is possible. My little ones are very interested and motivated by technology. Therefore, putting us on a mission to achieve ultimate success of learning with the use of technologies we have today.

My job is to teach young citizens to be bilingual/biliterate.

The school I work in is a BISO, (Bilingual School Organization), where 60% of the day is taught in English and 40% in Spanish. My class consists of 39 Kindergarten students. Twenty in the morning and nineteen in the afternoon,ranging from 5 to 6 years of age. Our school is a Title 1 school. Eighty percent of our students are on free or reduced lunch and come from low social-economic families. The majority of our students are English Language Learners whose parents have migrated to the USA from around the world. Technology is a luxury therefore most parents cant afford to buy computers for the home. Our mission statement which is dear to my heart is to "bilingually foster student achievement with respect for historical, cultural and individual diversities with an emphasis on the preservation of our environment and an appreciation for the arts.

My Project

One of the many advantages of having a Laptop in my class would be exposing them to the world of technology, thus sparking curiosity and make my students thirst for knowledge. Additionally this would be a fun and motivational way to expose the children to programs that would help reinforce letter, number, color and shape recognition. They will be able to listen to stories from books; practice reading stories; and record themselves reading stories written by them. There are programs that even help with their fine motor skills. Keeping track of their progress as they use and save it to the Laptop is something I look forward to as well as targeting their different learning needs. The possibilities are endless with this technology readily available to them. My students have their own individual needs. By using a Laptop their communication, reading and mathematics skills, would be much more enhanced thus leading them to success.

By supporting this project you would be enabling my little ones to further their education and allow them to explore and engage in our rapidly changing technological world.
