My Students

Hello! I am the proud teacher of bright 2nd graders in the Gifted and Talented Program at a Title I school in Manhattan.

My class is extremely diverse and we embrace our differences through exploration and synergy!

We come from all over America, The Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, South Korea, Italy, Ethiopia, Finland, Germany, and Guyana.

My student leaders LOVE to read, write, and do math, but they especially love science and social studies. They are artistic, musical, athletic, and all-around stars.

My Project

This project will provide my classroom with a color printer which will allow me to print images to decorate the room on the spot, make copies of papers in an instant, and scan student work to parents to keep them informed. The magnetic borders will brighten up my main chalkboard bulletin space where we hold our morning routine.

Maintaining a colorful, engaging, and welcoming classroom can be challenging and expensive for teachers, so my hope is to provide the best possible makeover for my classroom this upcoming school year with your support!

Our library and read aloud area is where we have the most fun! I'm looking to expand my library to represent "windows" and "mirrors". "Window books" show children characters who are different from themselves and "mirror books" show children characters who are similar to themselves. The books are geared to enhance diversity through read alouds.

The headphones will allow students to hear their electronic books read out loud to them to improve their fluency without disturbing their classmates. The plastic drawers will be used as their mailboxes for important papers and student work.
