My Students

My students come from all over New York City in all five boroughs. Their one thing in common is their love and passion for art. Some travel up to two hours in their morning commute, because they want the best art education they can get.

Our school is famous; as a result, there are high expectations from the teachers to make sure our students get the best.

However, with little funding, the students have to buy all of their own art materials for each semester. This means that teachers like myself, need to make sure we give the most highly effective lessons and experiences so that it is always worth it for the students to spend so much money in a public school.

My Project

Our photography class is in desperate need of materials for our dark room. Film is something that we will be using a lot of, as students learn the ins and outs of photography.

The film paper is very important because as we learn, students will need ample paper for test strips and then portfolio ready pieces.

These materials will make a huge difference in the classroom, because many students cannot afford to keep resupplying as the semester continues.

Our next endeavor is to get 10 35mm cameras funded to aid in photography. This will be super vital to solidifying our class because analog photography is obsolete and pretty soon there will be no more cameras left for students to purchase.
