This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My name is Miss Acosta, I teach 5th grade in New Mexico . This is only my second year in 5th grade. This year I have a brand new team and we are departmentalizing, so not only do I get to get blessed with one group of kiddos but three. I will be teaching math this year. And I am so excited! However in my building we are limited on supplies. I would love your help to please fill the items to make the year as easy as possible for our students. As a math teacher we utilize our whiteboards a lot and one item that I am short on is dry erase markers to lend to all 3 classes. I would love for them each to have one. We do many activities online but unfortunately we don’t have class sets of headphones so the kids have to bring their own or share the 5 sets that are in my classroom and it isn’t very efficient. Especially those that that need more of a quiet space to work. I am also requesting copy paper because we are only given a limited amount of reams and it isn’t nearly enough to get through the year. For math the kids get resources pages that they get to utilize , as well as notes, and practice sheets. I will have to supply enough for all 3 classes and I fear I that we will be out of paper by October. I am very excited for the new year, I know I will have an amazing group of students and appreciate all the support!
