Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach second graders early reading skills. I am looking to entice early readers with a love of reading. Books that students read should reflect them. I teach in a diverse school where many students do not have access to books. I am looking for help to update my classroom library with a more relevant selection.

Some early readers struggle to read.

By rebuilding my library with series books and graphic novels that are fun to read, I am looking to grab my new readers and encourage them to keep reading. I would like my new readers to reach for a graphic novel like Pea Bee and Jay or Pizza and Taco and find laughs and a reason to continue reading.

I am also looking to build early readers interest and challenge my eager readers. Series books with strong characters like Elray Jakes , Jada and theBots and Sophie Mouse will keep my students reaching for those series to continue adventures with their new found book friends. The Dragonsitter series will give students a sense of adventure with loved characters.

Thank you for helping me reach my early readers and continue to do what I love most about teaching. Helping kids find a love of books.
