My students need sandtray miniatures to use in our recently-funded sandtray project. These miniatures will provide even more opportunities for students' appropriate emotional expressions, which consequently sets them up to better achieve in the classroom.

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We serve an entire spectrum of students on our campus, including a large proportion of at-risk students and those in the care of state agencies. Our campus serves a lot of hurting children, and research shows us that if children are hurting, they cannot learn.

We also know that with the right start, the sky is the limit for all children!

To ensure the success of all of our children, we are working diligently to strengthen our school counseling approach for all of our students, from Pre-Kindergarten through the fifth grade. As we strengthen our school counseling program to address the needs of our students, we must ensure that we have the tools that help us meet children where they are developmentally.

My Project

This project will supply additional materials for our therapeutic sandtray initiative. We recently funded a sandtray project on Donors Choose in approximately 72 hours, which provided a lidded tray and sand for counseling activities.

Our teachers teach a lot of hurting children, and research shows that if children are hurting, they cannot learn.

Since elementary-aged children cannot satisfactorily verbalize their issues, they must communicate through stories, movement, and sensory play: this is where a sandtray becomes important.

Thanks to our donors, we are awaiting the arrival of our funded sandtray.

We are now seeking the appropriate miniatures to facilitate full expression of children's life events.
