My Students

My students do not have the resources, such as a simple computer to research and compose the level of writing that is expected. I want them to be fluent with a computer not only for my class, but so they can feel it is possible to go to college, which is a technology based learning environment,too.

Not only are my students "at risk," due to being a variety of things, such as poverished, teen parents and behind in school credits, but they currently don't have the resources to accomplish the tasks that the workforce expects them to be capable of.

Many of them do not have a computer at home. They desperately need these computers in order to produce a higher quality of work that can be shared in a variety of ways, to include creating a collection or portfolio of their work to be shared or assemble a newsletter for their campus.

My Project

These laptops will enable my students to create writing, and be able to learn how to use the latest applications while doing it. They will not only create essays and rhetoric, but put together a newsletter to highlight the accomplishments of themselves and their peers. Many of them do not have computers at home, but they and their parents frequently have Internet on their phone, so it would promote pride and parental involvement.

This project is extremely important to me because it seems that my students have nothing...much of the time.

They are the ones "left behind." I just can't be a part of that equation. I am thankful to work with teachers that are truly there for the kids, and have the opportunity to allow you to participate in being a human net for these students.
