Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Going into my 7th year working at this school I've learned that I have such a special student body. My students are amazing but have their own struggles that they sometimes try to hide.

For this upcoming school year I'd like to create a group of students that can advocate for others, as well as take care of themselves.

I want to create a safe space for them to deal with their anxiety, stress or just a bad day. By funding my project I will be able to offer supplies to my students that they can use to take care of their mental health. As counselors, we like to encourage our students to use journals to express themselves when they don't feel like talking. Stress balls and stickers/decals help them to work through a hard day. I also love doing projects with the students that involve them making their own bracelets with beads and spelling out certain words that are meaningful to them.

This project getting funded would mean a little extra support for my wonderful students and our Mental Health Minds Matter Movement.
