My Students

I work with 18 Pre-Kindergarten students who come from a variety of cultures and backgrounds. Many are learning English as their second language. The majority of my students receive free or reduced-price lunch. For many of them, this is their first school experience. Our school currently has grades Pre-K through fourth grade. We plan to add fifth grade to our school next year.

My students are curious and eager to learn!

My goal this year is to create a nurturing environment where my students become independent learners, thinkers, and problem solvers. We are creating the future leaders of the world!

My Project

These resources will help create a calm and relaxing environment for my students.

Mindfulness and yoga help to relieve stress, focus the mind and create feelings of peace.

Our young students go to school and live in the city, which can be fast paced and hectic. Yoga will help develop gross motor skills and inner peace in our young students. The practice of yoga and mindfulness will also help them self-regulate.

I hope to build our cozy corner into a retreat where students can go during choice time. Students will have tools available to them to do yoga using the mats, yoga cards, yoga spinner and yoga dice. They can use the calming sensory jars to help relax and reset when needed.
