Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am so lucky to have a wonderful and amazing class this 2021-2022 school year. My class is a class full of unique, bright minds, yet very delicate emotions. Our biggest goal is we lack certain items that would benefit all and support my students' growth, both academically and emotionally. We were so very lucky with our Sensory and Creativity project that we had funded thanks to Donors Choose, and t made a world of a difference. My students now have a wonderful "Calm Spot" with various stress relief and sensory play items they absolutely love, as well as a "create area" where they can do therapeutic art. These things I have had to be put away during COVID 19.

Our classroom is made up of 2nd-5th grade students with Emotional and Behavioral Disabilities.

It is a Self-Contained class, so we do all our learning, for all together every day. My class means the world to me and my colleagues. Our class has specific interests in creating, art, and reading, and working on Mindfulness that motivates them in a variety of ways. The students love practicing Mindfulness and simple meditation before we begin our work.

My Project

The materials I will purchase via Teachers Pay Teachers, include two mega bundles one is Mindfulness Bundle, and the other is a Counselor bundle for SEL activities. These purchases will provide me with many ways to teach how to be Mindful and cope when we are experiencing stress.

Our school district is implementing Mindfulness, and I am lucky to be the school's leader in this initiative, for the entire school.

I look forward to working with my students and other classes, helping them learn acceptance, and skills to succeed in this very unusual time.
