My Students

Students today deal with a lot of stressors. Sometimes it may be difficult family situations including poverty, divorce, military deployment, and sometimes abuse. They also are a part of their family's often busy and hectic schedule. Other students endure teasing, bullying, or other uncomfortable situations at school or other group situations.

The students at my Title 1 school have a wide array of backgrounds and experiences and the emotions that go along with them.

But they all have one thing in common----the want to be loved, cared for, and accepted.

My Project

At my school, we have set up a yoga/mindfulness room for all the classes to use. In it, there are yoga mats, inspirational/motivational posters, and yoga poses cards.

This project will add a library of books emphasizing positive character traits to help students see their place in the world and be the best they can be.

All the teachers at the school will have access to these books to share and discuss with their classes. Some titles include:

Altogether I have comprised a list of about 30 books to help create a school-wide culture of kindness, compassion, and self empowerment.
