My Project

I am blessed to work with some of the best and brightest students as the school’s social worker. This unfortunately also comes along with many more mental health struggles than one would expect. Our students work hard every day to excel academically, give back to their community, and be kind friends/siblings/children, all while hiding their struggles.

In my office, I don’t want them to have to hide.

I want them to be able to come as they are and heal from their difficult experiences, learn ways to manage their mental health and feel that someone supports and cares for them unconditionally.

Having a comfortable and safe environment is essential for this mission. I work primarily with our special education population who too often feel that they don’t have a “niche” or a group to feel safe with. I want the students to walk into my room and breathe a sigh of relief because they can finally relax and take the first steps toward healing. Studies show that the environment significantly impacts the therapy process. Physical comfort leads to emotional comfort.

Having a comfortable couch to sit on (our current is tarnished and stained), peaceful lighting, bins for sensory and art supplies, and a camera to capture and proudly display our students’ best moments on a fairy light-lit gallery wall supplies all will invaluably benefit our students. Thank you so much for your contribution towards improving their mental health.
