Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I have the pleasure of working with a lovely group of 11th graders this year. They are very eager to share parts of themselves and connect outside of the classroom. The Calm Down Crew is a mental health support club. It is a safe, judgement-free space for them to come together, share their experiences and support one another. Our club will help manage stress, anxiety and emotional challenges.

I believe that providing snacks in a fun way through games will create an environment where they feel comfortable and energized.

Having this space and time will allow them to bond, build trust, and have open conversations.

They will learn about relaxation techniques, and mindfulness exercises to develop healthy coping mechanisms. The Calm Down Crew will be crucial in promoting mental well-being and emotional growth during the often stressful high school years and beyond.
