My Students

I teach in Milwaukee, WI at a public charter school. The mission of our school is to close the gap between African American and Caucasian education. Most of the scholars and their families live at or below the poverty level and face numerous challenges on a daily basis.

One of our missions this year is to bring a mindfulness practice into the classroom.

I believe it will positively impact the culture in our school as well as make it a more productive place. We have created a SEL (social and emotional learning) committee and I truly believe this training will help me bring mindfulness practice into the classroom more effectively. I am also excited to bring the practice to our staff and school families as well. We can not take care of others if we are not first taking care of ourselves.

My Project

I am seeking financial assistance for a 200-hour wellness and yoga teacher training designed specifically for teachers.

My students face many challenges in their young lives.

Despite these challenges they persevere and show great growth academically in school. With all the academic rigor that is pushed in today's schools their mental wellbeing and health is often overlooked. I want to bring mindfulness and wellness back in the classroom. I truly believe that your mind has to be at peace and calm to give your best in any situation. With this training, I will be able to bring peace and calm into my school. It will not only impact the students but the staff and school families as well.
