Help me give my students the ability to have hands on learning. By being able to do experiments with magnets students are more apt to learn about their properties and how they react with one another.

A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
I have a classroom with 20 students. Their reading abilities range from being able to read a from a Kindergarten level to the end of third grade level. Academically speaking they are all just as diverse in their abilities and needs. With a heavy emphasis being placed on teaching students using the Common Core standards it is vital that we find innovative ways to fill in the gap for students. It is vital that all students have the ability to show they are strong thinkers and problems solvers. It may be important to note that 100% of our school qualifies for free lunch under a grant.
My Project
By having access to hands on materials students will be able to explore the properties of magnets. They will be able to see how magnets can float, attract specific materials, or how they push and pull one another. This will help them understand how Earth is a giant magnet and that is why our compasses always point north, unless we are too close to a magnet. When students have the ability to explore they think they are having fun, they don't see it as learning. That is when some of the best learning gets stuck in their long term memory. We want kids to remember what we teach them for a long time, not just in the moment.
