Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students work hard, even if they struggle. They are kind to each other and understand that there are some in the classroom with special needs. More than 90% of my students are living in poverty, and yet they will still donate spare change to any fundraisers that help the sick or the needy.

My students deserve the best education possible, which is hard to get with the way our school budget has been so severely cut.

I want them to know that I believe in them and in all of their potential and will find a way to get the supplies that they need even when the budget won't allow for it. They deserve to have a classroom that feels comfortable, safe, and like a home. We are like a family in my classroom. My students know that I take care of them.

My Project

The decision on what school will be like this September is not written in stone, or on paper for that fact since we are out of pencils and pens! Me and my school gave away what materials that we had to our students to make sure that they had what they needed for remote learning. We need to replenish what we had so my students can work and thrive.

Please help me get writing, editing, and coloring materials for my students to use either in school or home.

Some students will not be able to bring in their own supplies. I need to make sure that my students will have what they need. To be safe and social distance, the students will not be able to share, so they need to have an ample supply of materials that they can use exclusively. We need many pencils and crayons, especially because they may not be easily sanitized, and will need to be replaced most frequently. The students have fallen behind on their writing since teaching writing was difficult during remote learning. Students need the pens to learn how to edit and revise their writing pieces, and crayons to illustrate. To save paper, we will also be using dry erase boards, so dry erase markers are needed.

If we go fully remote, I need a large dry erase board and markers to model skills during synchronous teaching and for recorded lessons. Whatever you are able to do to help is very much appreciated!
