My Project

Middle school years are adventurous, challenging, and a time for growth. My students are reestablishing their friendships and bonds with teachers and peers after the tumultuous years with COVID. Their time in school is, for the most part, when they are able to socialize and work collaboratively with each other. However, for some students, this poses as a challenge, as many struggle to communicate appropriately with one another to achieve the same goal. Therefore, I am asking for your help with the materials and resources listed to help engage my students in team building and cooperative play activities.

My role is a Speech and Language teacher as well as an 8th Grade Advisory teacher.

I want to support my students to better communicate with peers in a positive manner so they may be equipped with coping strategies that are needed when working in groups. Social and emotional learning (SEL) skills are key and pivotal in the middle school years and we have a chance to help students practice the art of working together to achieve an end goal or project. The materials I have selected will help with those pragmatic skills. The games and activity equipment will allow my students to experience friendly competition that will bring smiles, laughter, and best of all, positive SEL memories.
