Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

After our first successful year, we want to bring the Sunflower Garden back again... and make it even better this year!

Our middle school students from the National Junior Honor Society, the Autistic/Learning Support team, and other volunteers came together last year to plan, plant, and maintain a "sea of sunflowers."

After seed planting in late May, students and staff returned in mid-summer to host neighbors and visitors coming into the garden to pick flowers and snap pictures. The local press even featured our students and their garden.

For 2022, students are planning to host more sunflower seed sowing weekends in May. This year we will introduce to the garden our new summer watermelon patch and fall pumpkin patch.

Help us buy 1) a more efficient watering system for the sunflower garden 2) a drip water system for the new watermelon and pumpkin patches.
