Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our Middle School has always strived to provide every one of our 1800+ students with the support to grow emotionally, intellectually and socially into a contributing member within our community. At the beginning of the 2023-24 school year, we instituted a brand new Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports Rewards Program (PBIS Rewards Program) to further improve the behavior within our school community and teach our students that there are good things that can come when they strive to be the best version of themselves.

Through our PBIS Rewards Program students earn points for regularly attending school and class on time, participating continuously in class, consistently being both responsible and respectful, and prioritizing developing a safe learning environment for themselves and their peers.

As students earn points for these positive behaviors, they can use them to redeem some amazing items in our school PBIS Store, which is also run by the students themselves.

While our school, staff, PTA and local community members have donated some incredible small and larger items that the students have really responded to throughout the year, our stock of items has begun to dwindle faster than we anticipated. With the tremendous success our program has had on the behaviors of our students, and the constant redeeming of items by students from our PBIS Store, we are beginning to run low. After speaking with a committee of student leaders and reviewing how quick our higher priced items are redeemed, we hope that your donation can continue to show our students that good behavior pays off!
