My Students

We do not have a field to practice on, we practice in the back yard of the school. I have limited funding so being able to purchase the gear we need is hard. We are using old bats and baseballs for practice. We have old rubber bases that are full of holes and no fence.

My student athletes are great.

They make the best of what we have and continue to play for the love of the sport. While we have yet to win a game, the boys still push forward and know that we will continue to get better. With new equipment and better facilities, I could help my players become better players and men. They have a true love of the game and deserve better than what I am able to put them on the field with. We currently have 23 students on the team and are maintaining a 3.0 GPA as a team. Academics comes first for us and it would be great for these boys to be able to succeed in baseball as well as they are in academics. There is great support for the program in school, but a lack of funding. We broke even on a fundraiser selling shirts to purchase t-shirts for the boys to play baseball in this year, but no matter how hard it seems, the boys continue to push forward to get better and grow.

My Project

With these materials including baseballs and bats for practice, tees and nets to learn to hit with and not lose baseballs, and the bases to set up a field with, we will stake out an area to practice on. We will be able to set up several hitting stations where we can hit more often and without loosing our baseballs. We will be able to let some of our sixth graders hit with the new bats, as they are more their size. Overall we will be able to become a better baseball team, and share our success with those around us and the community that supports us.

These donations will help the program grow.

I will be able to get the boys hitting more. We will be able to practice with baseballs that are closer to our game balls. I will be able to begin working on our field so we have a place to practice. It will allow me to change the opportunity the players have, and help them grow in their talents. It will give them an opportunity to grow and showcase their gifts and potential.
