Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

It is the middle of the school year and supplies start to wear out with so much fun that we are having while learning.

As a Special Education teacher, I work with a variety of students in different grade levels ranging from Kindergarten through Fifth grade.

Some of my students are considered "at risk" and receive differentiated academic support to further develop their skills and allow them to participate and benefit from the general education curriculum. Other students receive mandated special education services as a way to help them achieve their individualized goals and to also participate with the general education curriculum. My students come from a neighborhood in which poverty is high. Some of our students live in a shelter, foster care and housing projects. Approximately, one third (30%) of our student population is identified as special needs students and require extra support and differentiated instruction. Our schools seeks to provide support to the students and their families in many different ways.

My Project

I envision using these materials to enhance the students' learning in an engaging and fun way for them. Hands on activities, visuals and repeated practice is important. I will provide differentiated small group instruction to make sure that my students grasp the concepts and strategies taught every step of the way. Most of my lessons focus around the ELA subject and have a laser eye on reading comprehension. The markers, sentence strips and chart paper will help me provide the visuals needed to remind students of what is being taught. The dry erase markers and baggies will be used for direct use of the students. The bags will help carry their materials and the dry erase markers will be used to provide answers to comprehension questions during our discussions/mini lessons.

Your donation will have a positive impact in the lives of my students.

They come from a neighborhood in which many resources are needed. You can continue to make their educational journey fun, enjoyable and a positive experience.
