Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from a variety of backgrounds. They live in a neighborhood in which there is high poverty. Many of our students live in a shelter, with a foster parent or in public housing projects. Their parents may not have the economic resources to cater to their every need; this includes school supplies. The students that I specifically serve are students with disabilities, which in many cases are behind academically and require explicit instruction to generalize and maintain newly taught concepts.

Around 25% of the school population are students with disabilities.

They need our support and encouragement.

My Project

The materials being requested will be used by the students with their everyday lessons. We are requesting pencils, markers, erasers, pens, highlighters and glue sticks to help them get started with their learning activities. The stickers will be used as incentives to help them keep doing a great job at learning. The pens, pencils and markers will be used during the activities.

The goal is to help our students learn without the worry of any missing school supplies.

Simple everyday materials can go a long way and change students' attitudes into positive ones because they know we are there to help them along the way.
