Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our scholars shine both in and out of the classroom! They are funny, talented, witty and resourceful middle schoolers. They enjoy performing in various clubs such as drumline, Broadway Junior musicals, step, cheerleading, and band. Many have never left the South Bronx and some have not ventured far from around my block.

Curiosity, perseverance, and collaboration are some of the many strengths of our scholars.

It is common to see them help one another in the lunchroom, hallways or schoolyard. Our scholars may be under-served but they have a TON of HEART!

My Project

Our students are incredible people who are creative and kind. They often lack the resources to let their creativity shine. To that end, we have created Midday Mindfulness, which meets three times a week at the end of their lunch period.

We meet in the Black Box Studio, a safe space in our school which has a piano, drums and a stage but we would like to add some art supplies to the mix so that visual artists can stretch their creative wings!
