Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

They are an energetic, passionate and inquisitive group of individuals. My students come from shelters, public housing, and unfortunately, many of them are members of neighborhood gangs. Although in their world, education seems to be the last thing on their young minds, these odds do not stop them from giving 100% every day. They are inspiring and my motivation to provide 100% of myself day in and out. My students deserve an education that will prepare them for the future.

My Project

The use of the Surface GO will be to introduce technology in my Math and Science classroom and provide hands-on and visuals to my students who are intellectually disabled. Now more than ever, students are more engaged, creative and collaborative. Surface devices really help to unlock their potential and there’s no looking back. At the moment, the most popular way of using the Surface is as a ‘tablet’, with its ability to lie almost horizontally, students can use it as a drafting table. The students can use it very intuitively like you would with pen and paper. They are adapting to it in a natural, comfortable way, switching very quickly between the Dial which allows for improved accessibility, the pen, and touchscreen. It’s a perfect combination.
