Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a science teacher in a title one school in the Bronx. Hands-on activities are a huge part of my classes! I would love for each small group of students in my various classes to have access to slides for microscopes. This will help them discover the world in a fun, hands-on way! I will place the micrscopes in a center toward the back of my room. The various microscope activities will be an ongoing thing. I look forward to enlightening my students! Thank you!

My Project

My plan is to add these interesting slides to my microscope activities. My students will have data tables where they will collect and analyze data (making predictions and finding the results), draw diagrams (predicting what something will look like with just their eyes and under a microscope), and draw and write conclusions. They will then share their findings with the whole class. My 5th graders will be in charge of cleaning the microscopes and making sure the slides are put away properly and safely. I think observing these scientific slides under a microscope will open a whole new world of discovery for my students!
