My Project

We are a neighborhood and immersion school. We have a Native language immersion program. All of the students receive free breakfast and lunch. We are located near a joint military base with many students coming from military families. Our school is culturally diverse with many different languages spoken and as many cultures represented. With our geographic location and high cost of living, we face many challenges others don't.

When you have so many fun and exciting things to explore outside your world and you even have a new traditional culture meets modern science project to start, how do you view all of the creatures you find and the micro organism all around you?

With microscopes of course. In order to bring science to life and to be able to explore visually what is around us we need to have microscopes to view the organisms from the creeks water or even our own aquaponics set ups. They are extremely curious about the world around them and what things look like up close and I want to foster this curiosity. We are asking for a 2000x compound microscope with camera to display what we find on our TV. We need five compound microscopes so we can do small group work and dissect what we find or do individual research on a topic or organism. Finally we need illuminated hand lenses so that we are able to on the fly view anything that is microscopic or macroscopic up close in a moments notice.
