Microscopes for Mega-Science!

My students need microscopes in order to be able to work with specimens and objects in a meaningful way. Many of my students have never had the opportunity to work with this exciting scientific tool.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Aspirantes con Orgullo! My students are fifth graders at a bilingual charter school. Students receive education in both English and in Spanish, wherefore by the time they move onto high school, they will be fully bilingual. We are a Title I school, with 90% percent of our students coming from low income families.

To ignite a child's curiosity and make connections to the world around them.

Many of our students have not had the opportunity to really explore and flourish in the area of Science. My goal as a Science teacher is to allow my students to make a meaningful connection to each topic I present to them through labs, videos, presentations, stations, etc. Seeing my students enjoy learning about the world around them and making connections brings me such joy and pleasure! To be able to provide my students with more science tools to further their love for learning and SCIENCE, would mean a great deal.

My Project

In many schools, there tends to be a lack of student interaction with Science, causing many students to turn away from this fascinating subject. As a Title I school, we have limited funds to provide all our students will the proper materials to enrich their Science education.

My goal as a teacher is to provide my students with as many opportunities to be not only minds-on but hands-on.

With interactive labs, stations, and lessons, students (both female and male) can grow a love for Science.

My goal for these microscopes is to allow my students to learn how to properly handle and utilize scientific tools. In learning how to properly use a microscope (for the first time), my students will be able to make those meaningful connections with Science in hopes that they will grow in their Science knowledge and just love Science! I will make use of these microscopes as often as I can throughout the year whether it will be to compare plant cells and animals or to dig deeper into the 3 rock types (igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary). Thank you for your consideration! Sincerely, A Nerdy Science Teacher!
