My students need microscopes in order to gain practice and mastery of conducting experiments during labs. These skills will allow them to perform well on State tests as well as demonstrate attainment of course matter.

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students in my 6th grade Science classes are motivated and eager to learn. They appreciate being challenged and push one another to always think outside of the box. While many of them come from impoverished neighborhoods, they are more than willing to come to school each day engaged and be active participants in their learning! To add, their excitement and curiosity to learn comes to life in every task given whether in class or home.

My Project

The children would benefit form having microscopes in their classroom. It is crucial that they acquire the skill of microscope usage, so that they are able to perform experiments during instructional periods. For instance, students can develop mastery of investigating cells by viewing slides of various organisms in order to highlight cell organelles. In turn, they are able to be hands-on learners who can articulate and synthesize science concepts.

Additionally, the use of microscopes on state testing is essential to academic success.

By practicing in the classroom, students will become more relaxed when placed in a testing environment due to high confidence levels. If students are confident during testing, they will be more susceptible to high scores.
