My Students

I teach English as a New Language in Brooklyn, NY. My students come from many different backgrounds and cultures. I have students from Haiti, Yemen, Dominican Republic, Guinea, and Bangladesh. This eclectic crew make up almost 1/5 of the entire student population of our school. In my opinion, my English Language Learners are the most hardworking, respectful, and positive scholars in the school. They truly want to learn, which makes my job that much easier and enjoyable. I'm here on DonorsChoose.org to go to bat for them. They deserve the best.

My Project

Our children will be performing Disney's The Little Mermaid, Jr in a few months, and we'd really like to update our microphone system. The characters who have large speaking parts, or who sing solos, will be miked.

Microphones are a must in our awfully designed auditorium.

The auditorium is connected to the cafeteria with a fake wall, and it wasn't designed for excellent acoustics. This year's musical has a much larger cast of characters than usual who need to be amplified. We have a cast consisting of an array of ELLs, special needs, and gen ed students who are truly excited to perform in front of their classmates, teachers, and parents.
