Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My class loves to put on shows for other classes and parents. This year we have performed "Character Matters" and "Munchkin Mediation" for over three hundred people. The problem is that we are relying on two old microphones that have interference and an unsafe cord.

We are a class of dedicated actors/students with a focus and passion to learn and create through performance arts.

My hope is that I can guide my students and continue developing their love for books, school and the arts. Our resources are limited, and we need your help. This is a second grade class that is located in New York City. The students come from low income housing and have extremely limited resources. Our elementary school has grades K-4 and houses over 1,100 students. Quality microphones have become difficult to acquire.

My Project

These microphones will allow the students to concentrate on their lines and acting abilities instead of worrying if they are being heard. The students rehearse for months and a lot goes into the performance; costumes, sets, scenes, choreograph dance numbers, songs and fun! These shows are a huge community builder throughout the school and bring such joy to the parents, the other classes and of course the actors. I know that these microphones are expensive but please consider donating for a cause that I truly believe is worthwhile.

Sadly, we know that the performance arts are so rarely done in school nowadays.

I do not want to let it go. I want to continue to do multiple shows with my students throughout each school year. I need your help in providing them with the wireless microphones so that they can be heard and be safe when they are on the stage.
