My Students

My students are at the beginning of an amazing journey into the world of Audio Engineering and Music Production. It's the first time our school has ever offered courses in these subjects and the students are thrilled. Our biggest challenge at this point is acquiring the right equipment.

My students are avid learners.

They take every chance they can get to devour information - especially when it's about music and technology. The new course we're offering is at maximum enrollment and only has the potential to grow. Within the context of the course students are learning the fundamentals of audio gear and recording techniques. They are also getting hands on time working with microphones, setting up sound systems and designing live/recording plans. While half of the students are working with the equipment, the other half are getting instruction in playing an array of musical instruments from drums to clarinets, guitars and keyboards.

My Project

These microphones will become a vital part of our microphone library. They will open up a whole new world of miking possibilities for my students. Right now all of our microphones have the same polar pattern which limits the options we have when setting up recording sessions. All three of these microphones can between three different patters, cardioid, figure 8, and omnidirectional. Having microphones with multiple polar patterns is essential to any professional studio and my students will be using them on an almost daily basis. In addition to being used in the studio they will be set up in our ensemble rooms to record choir and band rehearsals. Having quality recordings available for playback during a rehearsal will be an incredible teaching tool for all of our ensembles.

By donating to this project you will be helping to expand our microphone library and give life to a whole new avenue of study at our high school.

With the addition of these microphones my students will have the tools to use professional equipment, thus giving them authentic learning experiences. My students will be able to use their experiences for the rest of their lives in professional and home recording studios. On behalf of all my students, current and future - Thank you so much for helping!
