Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This project will allow my students to use the problem-solving, creativity, and programming skills they learn in my technology classroom. The students will be able to effortlessly design an interactive program that can be transferred to the micro:bit and then interacted with by themselves or others.

All the students in my class understand how to use a computer program and even program one, and using the micro:bits will allow them to understand how the code influences the hardware and vice versa.

By allowing the students to have first-hand experience working with hardware, it will help create a deeper understanding of STEM and the future that it holds for them.

With this project, the students will create a simple game of rock, paper, scissors and translate it into code that will use the Micro:bits sensors to randomly select the choices for them. The students can then play with other students and their micro:bits to have a 21st-century version of rock, paper, scissors with the code they created. This simple program will further their knowledge of conditional statements, input and output, sensors, and loops.
