My students are a vibrant and curious group of young learners who bring endless energy and enthusiasm to the classroom every day. They come from diverse backgrounds, each with unique perspectives and talents. What unites them is their incredible creativity and eagerness to explore new ideas. Despite facing various challenges, they demonstrate remarkable resilience and a passion for learning that inspires me daily.
I am requesting a set of micro:bits for our classroom to enhance our STEM curriculum by allowing my anatomy and physiology students to create their own version of the classic Operation game.
These versatile, pocket-sized computers will foster creativity and innovation by giving students the opportunity to design and build their own interactive Operation game, which will ignite their imagination and encourage innovative thinking; enhance coding skills by programming the micro:bits to control the game, students will develop essential coding skills in a fun and engaging way; promote problem-solving by using micro:bits to create the Operation game will challenge students to think critically and solve problems as they debug and refine their projects; and encourage collaboration because creating the Operation game will require teamwork, allowing students to improve their communication and collaboration skills.
The goals for this project are to boost engagement in STEM, develop 21st century skills, create a foundation for future learning: By introducing students to micro:bits through a fun and interactive project like the Operation game, I hope to spark a lifelong interest in technology and engineering, potentially inspiring some to pursue careers in these fields.
