Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Though we are an inner-city school, all of our students are gifted and talented. We implement hands-on, real-world learning to prepare them to excel. My students are bright, intelligent, and ready to learn. The students go above and beyond when it comes to their education.

Our students can earn an AP, IB, or Visual and Performing Arts degree.

No matter the degree choice, our students endure rigorous learning across the board. The students come from all walks of life.

My Project

We are setting up micro ecosystems to study over the course of two weeks for my zoology class. These systems will help students see how organisms interact with the biotic and abiotic features in their environment. They will test water quality, nutrients and learn how nutrients cycle in their systems. This will be a great short term study on how everything in an ecosystem has an effect on everything else.

Seeing the interactions of everything in the micro ecosystems will tie their learning into real life events.

This helps the students remember and become more aware of their surroundings. The vacuum will help clean any debris in the microecosystems. The snails are an important part as they clean and respire so the plants can have carbon dioxide. The plants will release oxygen for the animals in the micro ecosystems. The rocks will be the substrate that the plants grow in.
