Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Give this project a boost!
A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
My students are ninth, tenth, eleventh and twelfth graders enrolled in a rural Northeast high school. Our school is a large public high school with nearly 2700 students. Our students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds with many of our students receiving free lunch. Our school is also one of the most ethnically diverse schools in the Northeast.
My students all love to come to a studio based class and enjoy the challenges and high expectations I set for them.
My students are enrolled in the Visual Arts program at our school and are extremely creative. They have a wide range of learning needs; some with high skill levels and others with very special needs requiring lesson modification. I teach primarily analog and digital photography.
My Project
Individual computer mice will help my young photographers be able to use their laptops with greater ease while editing with programs such as Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom. These mice can allow computer navigation with greater ease and success. Navigation can be a struggle on the built in laptop touchpad for many students and does not offer precise navigation. It makes completing their editing activities, as well as learning the tools, functions, and project work very difficult and cumbersome. The students being able to use a mouse will keep them from dragging their fingers along a small, laptop touchpad trying to get into hidden tools, shortcuts, and advanced functions while working. The mouse will also offer the ability for the students to scroll up and down using the mouse wheel making it a lot easier and faster, especially when editing a document. The addition of a mouse will help students to work faster and more efficiently and more time to create high quality, digital artwork. By donating to this project, you will help my high school artists to be successful with hybrid and distance learning during the COVID 19 pandemic.
