This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am excited to be teaching a new course this year, Mexican American Literature. I work with students who are predominately Mexican American and want to provide a novel that depicts challenging issues many have overcome like, loneliness, guilt, poverty etc. Though I have found many short stories and poems, along with a great play, I still want a novel to center the course with, and this book, this is the one.

This novel covers various topics, such as the "American dream" and poverty, as well as the story of a person migrating to the United States in hopes of finding her dad, yet in this process, discovers a lot about herself.
