My Students

My classroom is an active, vibrant, exciting place of learning, where students come to drink deep and leave full of knowledge. Help me to start their metamorphosis from primary grades to upper elementary with this exciting set of class books that will help us integrate science into literature!

My students attend a small, inner-city, Title I school in South Carolina.

Our school, while filled with over 70% free and reduced lunch, strives everyday to push our students to new heights! We engage our students with the Arts, wow them with our curriculum, and put their hands on every lesson. They are curious learners...like little sponges, soaking up every bit of information I can give them. They LOVE science!!! I work overtime trying to go deeper and get more for their wondering minds.

My Project

Each year we complete a major unit of study on life cycles of insects and frogs. Often times, the study has to be cut short because of time constraints. Other subjects such as math and reading have to be covered very thoroughly in order to prepare my 2nd graders for 3rd grade. I want my 2nd graders to leave my room changed, "Metamorphosized" into deep thinkers and science minded students so that they will excel in the challenging curriculum of 3rd grade. These books will help me to integrate literature and science, thus spending more time on the life cycle science unit that challenges my students on a deeper level of thinking.

These books will be a crucial part of science and literature integration.

They will help me to give students the extra time they need to explore the world of life science. Please help my students to be successful by funding this project!
