Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

At Miller, our students follow standards set forth by PBIS-Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports. Students can earn Miller Merits by demonstrating outstanding behavior and following the 3 B's- Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be Caring. Once a student has earned a Miller Merit, they are invited to shop in the store. These items are usually donated by staff or administration and the donations I am seeking will help offset the cost to staff members.

For 80% of the general student population, this is the only intervention needed to provide support in our school which makes it a vital Tier 1 Multi Tier System of Support (MTSS) at Miller.

I am seeking materials to add to the weekly store to ensure that this intervention remains effective for our school. Many items chosen like fidget toys can be used in the classroom as tools to aid in anxiety or stress. Students gain pride when their merits are earned and love to show off the different items they find in the store. I am hoping to surprise our students with many new items in the next year to renew excitement for meeting and exceeding behavior expectations in the school year.
