This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Scholars in the Berwyn area are a vibrant, energetic and enthusiastic group of young adults that are always ready to tackle any challenge head-on. Scholars are creative and intuitive in meeting expectations set for their intellectual, physical, social, and psychological growth. Scholars work relentlessly to ensure success in learning English across the curriculum.

My Project

These books s will make a difference to our scholars by learning the importance of African American literature in our to society. It will reflect cultural values and norms used as tools in teaching others. Scholars will learn about specific periods in United States history and events that changed the world. To express emotions, raise questions and build critical thinking skills. They will develop an understanding of the human condition.

They will learn about characters and the challenges and successes they faced to become examples of what happens to people when they respond to or ignore these universal experiences.

Mr. Irizarry Freedom Middle School Grades 6-8

Equity Focus

At this school, more than 50% of students are Black, Latino, and/or Native American, and more than 50% come from low-income households. Learn how your donation to this school supports a more equitable education.
