This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My 3rd grade students are in need of a variety of mentor texts, 2 bookshelves, and a set of composition books to build our craft of creative writing.

My third grade Preppies are eager to learn, ambitious, smart, and excited to be entering in a new grade level as reader and more important potential authors!

To help prepare our room for our new scholars, I would like to build their capacity by using picture books as mentors to help with writing traits and techniques. We strive to create a comfortable atmosphere to read, write and share our pieces with others. Since we are learning to read at higher levels, I would like to build a classroom library full of references for them to use while writing. My vision is to create a love for the written word that is embedded in them for years to come.

The focal point in the resources we are requesting for our classroom is to have our students see how the written word amongst widely known authors both fiction and nonfiction is used and how to play with those traits into our own writing. Since we have a healthy community of readers, we enjoy the visuals and examples authors use to help up break down writer's block.
