My Students

All of my kiddos are creative, thoughtful, and always full of questions because they love learning! We all love hands-on, active, engaging projects that challenge and allow them to critically think to find solutions! Every day my kiddos come to school ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically. They are truly my reason to give each day my everything!

I want to give my kiddos a school experience that will create a magical love for learning for years.

Our school is amazing in that teachers are encouraged to find unique and out-of-the-box ways to engage our students. Each child in my classroom absolutely loves learning, although the method and environment in which they learn best may vary greatly.

Being that I am only a third-year teacher, I want to always be able to incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, alternative seating, and learning options to ensure that each kiddo's needs are met, right where they are! They are always a truly incredible group, and I am so lucky and blessed to have a new set of kiddos every single year!

My Project

These last 2 years have been extremely hard on the development of students' social, emotional, and mental well-being as a result of COVID-19. My kindergarten kiddos have not gained many of the basic skills needed to learn well within the classroom. The Nevada Academic Content Standard 1.PCE.K.1 Identify a variety of healthy practices and behaviors to maintain or improve personal, community, and environmental health, is the focus of my project requested items. Students have been at home in a relaxed setting and as a result, lack the ability to sit in a basic chair for long periods of time. Providing them will comfortable seating options like the stools and exercise mats will allow my students the opportunity to understand that changing your seating options can be a way to improve blood flow throughout the day, thus, increasing knowledge that can be gained.

The items I am requesting for my kindergarten class will help support students’ social, emotional, and mental well-being as well as the impacts of interrupted learning as a result of COVID-19.

The Nevada Academic Content Standard 1.ME.K.1 Identify different emotions will also be addressed through the use of the light covers and star light projector. Students will learn about how the light covers help calm our environment. Furthermore, the calming effects of the star light will be used at moments in the day when my students need to relax their brains to learn the next given concept better. They will learn that meditation and relaxation are needed for our mental well-being.

Overall, this project is about helping my kiddos become aware of their mental well-being and how important our health is in our learning environment.
