My Project

The items I have requested have two main purposes all aimed toward mental health. 1) New lighting (warm lamps, changeable LED strings lighting) to offset the gloomy vibe that comes along with long Wisconsin winters; and 2) Provide students with calming activities (fidgets, calming coloring books) to partake in during brain breaks, lunch, or any other time it would help!

Improving the lighting in my classroom should have great impact, especially as we get closer to the cold, dark, gloomy winters in Wisconsin.

I have planned out two corner locations for the floor lamps and two other good locations for the desk lamps. These should help change up the vibe during certain activities instead of always having the sterile white florescent ceiling lights on. The string lighting will add to the positive new vibe, as well!

I have many students who have IEPs (attention issues in many, anxiety issues with most) as well as many who are classified under EBD that will benefit from the fidgets, as well as using the calming themed coloring books during "cool down" times.
