My Project

The games, snacks, fidgets, sand, and other resources I am requesting will help students in several ways. Students often come to the counseling office hungry and looking for something to eat. Oftentimes they will say they do not have money for food and ask if there is a snack available.

Students also crave sensory input, as with play dough or sand, and activities, such as the requested games and workbooks, geared towards self-esteem building and coping skills.

These materials will help achieve the goal of the project, which is to foster positive mental health and self-regulation skills in the high school setting and to bridge the gap from teenager to young adult.

Students need to know they have supportive and caring adults in their corner in the school environment to help them achieve their goals. My students are special because they each have struggles and adversities, however, they show up and try hard each day. It is inspiring to see and witnessing their growth is incredible.
