My Project

By providing a space where students feel warm and cozy will help them open up and share ways we can help them. This will limit the time it takes students to warm up by focusing on what to do rather then how to do it. As a high school speech language pathologist, many students come to my office frustrated, either by something at home, on their way here or a class--in order to support them in their language deficits, they need to feel comfortable and "at home". This becomes an easier process when their fears have been shared. Targeting areas where they know they have difficulty in, comprehension, execute function, literacy, etc. is not always easy. The items (poufs, fidgets, game, pocket folders, organizer, dry erase supplies, tapestry, pens, pencils, stickers) I have included in my project are things students have requested, which they do not have access to. This opportunity will allow to decrease their worries on mental health by providing them with tools necessary. No child should worry about their mental health, especially when they come here to learn and build relationships.
