Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I love my special ed students and my English language learners because they persevere under some pretty awful circumstances. My school offers an opportunity for them to meet together in an advisory capacity and I teach the 10th graders. This is a particularly vulnerable age because they still feel like they have so much high school left to go and they sometimes get sad. Sometimes they give up, dropout, become ill and can’t finish. I believe having a curriculum for teens will help them relate to others who may be going through the same thing and possibly normalize their struggles. It’s also fun to play games in advisory, and I discovered after the pandemic that many of my students don’t know how to start a conversation with their peers. For these reasons, I’m asking for this project to be funded. Thank you!
