This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

This is my third year as an internal Mental Health Counselor within my school, and the only internal role within the school district and South Carolina. Due to my title, I do not receive the incentive that teachers receive at the beginning of the year which does limit my ability to purchase things my students need for their social and emotional well-being. My role is very pertinent to the overall functioning of my students, staff, and families. The items that I have listed will help with self-regulation, manage impulse controls, and provide options for the students to utilize when needing a calm down moment in a safe space. There are many other options for what will help my students strive and succeed in the school setting, but this is a start that can be a small part in helping them. Each item purchased will impact the lives of my students during sessions of the school day. I greatly appreciate anything you can donate and purchase for my students.
