My Project

Poor mental health in adolescence is more than feeling blue. It can impact many areas of a teen’s life. Youth with poor mental health may struggle with school and grades, decision making, and their health. Mental health problems in youth often go hand-in-hand with other health and behavioral risks like increased risk of drug use, experiencing violence, and higher risk sexual behaviors that can lead to HIV, STDs, and unintended pregnancy.

Because many health behaviors and habits that are established in adolescence will carry over into adult years, it is very important to help youth develop good mental health.

For our project, we would like to create a mental health group for students who are having a hard time. Our students have formed a group of kids who want to help other kids. They will identify students who are having a hard time, whether that be physically or mentally. They will use the items requested in this project in hopes to let them know they are not alone, someone cares, and to never give up.

To do this we have requested a printer and some supplies including tissues, a pencil sharpener, shelving for organization, post it notes and pens. It is our hope that in using these items we will help students who are struggling.
