Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Mental health is so important in the education journey of our students. We need to strengthen their self-esteem, confidence and motivation every single day. We hope to create environments where students feel seen, heard and valued. Through music, writing and creating, we want our community to utilize various ways to incorporate mental health throughout the school day. We can use the speaker to play enjoyable and relaxing music for our community. The sound system will help us build community in public spaces. The journals will give students the opportunity to write their thoughts, practice placing associated words with their feelings and encouraging opening up. The stickers and games are helpful in creating community projects and reminding students that we honor and value their mental health.

Our goal is to spread awareness of the importance of mental health and emphasize its impact on learning.

We strive to teach the whole child and respect the everyday hardships that our students face.

Our students are some of the most resilient people walking NYC. They deserve opportunities to see themselves in their learning. We want to continue building our relationships and trust within the community by engaging our youth in the process.
